2. Background

Salt Research Institute of China National Salt Industry Corporation (SRI) is a Branch (Tianjin) of National Scientific & Technological Transformation Center authorized by five Chinese Ministries and Bureaus. It is also a shareholder of Tianjin Modern Fishery Technology & Engineering Center. Among the different research scopes, SRI has its unique R&D field with leading domestic and international advanced level, in aspect of natural beta-carotene products, rotifer, Artemia and microalgae culture, larviculture and recirculation system.

3. Forms of corporation

Tianjin Marine Biotechnology Co. Ltd. is an independent and shareholding limited liability company. SRI becomes its shareholder through scientific research achievements application, technical support and fixed assets investment.

4. Market outlook

Carotene is the main source of vitamin A in Chinese kitchen. It has been applied in food, health products, medicine and formulated feed due to its function of anti-oxidation, free radical cleanup and cancer prevention, and the resistance to radiation and cardiovascular disease. Through intensive researches during last two decades, SRI has developed the following main sorts of products:

Microalgae Dunaliella products: algae powder and soft capsule, natural carotene tablets and oral liquid, and carotene oil; Hatchery live food products: Artemia cysts, rotifer resting eggs and concentrated microalgae.

It is foreseen that the set-up of Tianjin Marine Biotechnology Co. Ltd. will achieve 23 million yuan annual output and 10 million yuan profit in microalgae Dunaliella production and 5 million yuan output and 2 million yuan profit in hatchery live food yield”
